With 410 Km of coast, Rio Grande do Norte State has the biggest coastal density in Brazil, that’s where the good results in fishing, aquiculture and tourist exploration come from.
Besides the privilege of having the best salt industry in the country. The semi-arid climate has temperatures varying between 18C and 31C, annually. There its found the best air in the Americas.

“Potiguar” people ( people from Natal) is famous for receiving very well their visitants. The hospitality and cordiality of people from Rio Grande do Norte makes of this state one of the first options of the route for tourist from Brazil and from Overseas.

Natal has been elected as the safest capital in Brazil in 2005. The verification was made through a research realized by “Instituo de Pesquisa Economica Aplicada” . (IPEA)
Natural Beauties and Nice temperature:
The constant sun and the 410 km of nice clean beaches, coconut trees and huge sanddunes attract tourists the whole year to RN. In genipabu, 24 Km far from Natal, it can be found the moft famous sanddunes in Brazil. They can be up to 50 m height, beong removable ( made only of sand) or fixed ( being covered by vegetation). The average temperature is 26C, which let population enjoying the beaches the whole year.
Strategic Location: Proximity to Europe and Africa
“ When you look at the sea in Natal you are closer to Africa than to São Paulo and closer to Europe than to Argentine”. There is the corner of the continent, These words are from Carol Frederico, reporter from “Folha de São Paulo” ( newspaper from São Paulo). The affirmation just confirm the reason that made the capital a strategic point for United State during the second world war. The cidade was known as the “ victory trampoline”, where planes which were coming from Europe, in their way to Africa, used to stop to refuel.
Infraestructure
The Natal Harbor- The harbor in Natal has as principal activity the exportation of fruits, this activity correspond to 30% of the whole goods exported mainly to Europe.
Airports:
The International Airport “Augusto Severo”- Located almost in the level of the sea ( 169 feet) with nice weather and geography, the International Airport Augusto Severo, in Parnamirim city, is 18km far from Natal. Its area corresponds to 11,3 thousands square meters e capacity to 1,2 million passengers/year. The installations and the terminals of passengers are ar conditioned trhough a huge equipment with capacity of producing 630 ton of cold air.
São Gonçalo do Amarante Airport – That´s a Project from the Government of RN state with the federal government and “Infraero”. The prevision is to have the first stage ready by 2009, The complex will have, when totally built, capacity to 4o million passengers/year. This is a projection for the year of 2020. Nowadays, “Guarulhos” International airport has about 18 million passengers/year. Designed to be one of the most modern airports in the World, São Gonçalo do Amarante Airport wil make of Augusto Severo airport a simple passengers terminal.
Convention center – Designed to host symposiums, congresses, seminars, meetings, artistic events, markets and expositions, the Convention Center is located nearby one of the most modern complex of hotels with pubs, restaurants, beaches, shopping malls, bike way, tourism agencies, rental companies and a lot of facilities.

LOOKING FOR EUROPEANS VISITORS.

New enterprises e more flights are part of the plan to attract foreigners to RN state.
With a participation in the Gross domestic product estimated in 10,5%, the tourism is one of the main economic activities in Rio Grande do Norte. In profile of the visitors the foreigner visitor play an important role, with a participation of 20% on the total public. Although this rate being one of the highest in Northwest region, the government hopes to enhance this numbers. Because of this, one of the priorities is to raise the numerb of “charters” flights to the region. Concomitantly, an effort will be done in order to get more advertisement abroad, with participation of the state in several international tourism markets. In order to support the growth of the flood of tourists more hotels will be built ( nowadays there are only 136). The problem will be softened in the next years as some enterprises are being finished, such as “Radisson Resort Pirangi”, in Natal, with a 30 million reais investment. Expected to be ready in 2009, the luxurious Resort aims to raise the interest of Europeans tourists by the Brazilian coast. Another company, Arcor, is investing 17 million reais on two new units “Ibis”, one in natal and one in Mossoro, both expected to be ready in 2008.
